I truly believe in MLM (multi level marketing). I think it's a great concept. Without belonging to a large company and all the red tape that goes with it, people can work together to earn a substantial income. There are just too many options out there and you can spend beaucoup bucks trying to find the one or two programs that fit your needs.
I think it's a good idea to have multiple streams of income, as with any investment diversification is probably best. I have joined and quit many plans simply because it seems I was pouring a lot of money and time into a program that didn't seem to be giving back to me. I've decided to keep it simple (as possible).
The first program I joined was GDI, Global Domains International. This was a good fit for me because it's really simple. $10 a month for the dot ws domain name and all the tools you need to create a cool website. The business end of the program is simple also. Each person that purchases a domain name by logging in through me (www.freedom.ws/goodfriends in case your interested) becomes part of my downline and I receive $1 a month from there membership. It's best not to try and recruit friends for these programs because they will hate and avoid you. I was lucky. I placed a few google ads and had some assertive people joined up under me. You get paid through 5 levels of your downline and so I get a nice (not large) check each month from GDI. Even if I didn't, I would stay with them because I really like their setup and want to keep my domain name.
I also belong to FreebieForce (http://debby4d.makemoneywithfreebies.com ). This is also very simple and clearcut with no tricks added. They have a list of all kinds of free mechandise, coupons, etc that are available that most people don't know about. The cost is $9.95 a month, which you can get more than that in free stuff if that is your wish. The same principle applies as with GDI. You get paid based on your "genealogy" (downline). I like this program because they do almost all the work for you. The send out emails to "pre-enrollees", people who are interested but not sure if they want to commit to the $9.95/month. Also, you don't feel uncomfortable talking to people about this one because of all the free stuff they can get.
The Mammoth List (www.mammothlist.net/?r=9901) is interesting. It's like a legal chainletter. I don't know why everyone in the world doesn't do this one. People pay a one time fee of $12 to get on your list. You receive $2 for each person that you get to be on the 1st line of your list and $2 on down through 5 levels. You can get as many people on each level as you can. Nothing to buy, no monthly fees. You just pay to become part of someones list. You can't get easier than this, totally uncomplicated.
I joined Unselfish Wealth (http://unselfishwealth.com/?id=20845) because I like the idea they promote of paying it forward. However, this one is a bit tricky. The way this one works is you get 4 people only in your first line, after that the next person you get spills over to you downline. So, your upline is helping to fill your downline and the theory is that your downline won't drop out as long as they are being helped by their upline. The catch is after you sighn up for the $5 monthly charge you are referred over to travelencia which you must join in order to participate in the Unselfish Wealth program. I think this costs about $60 with an additional monthly fee. This is all fine and good if it works and your upline helps generate your downline. So far, for me, I have no downline. It's only been a week and I'm going to give it more time.
I also try to generate traffic to these sites. I certainly don't expect a handout. I joined Easy Hits 4 U (www.easyhits4u.com/?ref=debby4d ). The concept here is you accumulate credits by surfing and you apply these credits toward your sites which are displayed for others to surf. You can buy credits or earn them by clicking. I try to earn at least 100 credits a day. I don't know yet whether I'm wasting my time with this but I will keep you updated.

My problem is that I don't know anybody. I could not even come up with 20 people for the recipe exchange.
